REASURER’S REPORT

Year to date Financials:  thru 4/30/13

·         Month of April expenditures over receipts.

CURRENT ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION

Endowment Fund Update:  CD converted to cash. An initial deposit was made to DCF for $67,367.50, representing (1) $10,000 for Dave Bernheisel’s  past endowment contribution,  (2)  $50,000 for George Elliott’s contributions, and (3) the balance of the memorial remembrances account.  The ‘lightship and related assets maintenance reserve’ has not yet been set up or funded. An appropriate vehicle for those funds needs to be identified other than DCF.

Pilothouse/Monomoy Update:  The plan is to move the pilothouse on site Tuesday, May 14th.  Grant approval for the monomoy  project received from Longwood Foundation for $40,000.  The decision on the Welfare Foundation grant will happen next month.

Report on CAMM meeting:  Ray Glick - CAMM endorses interaction among all CAMM members. Museums are forming coalitions with each other to drive attendance.  Extra charges are made for ‘special tours’ i.e. the engine rooms. Many of CAMM restoration activities are open to the public to generate excitement and interest.  Suggest smaller events and projects provide better return on investment that larger efforts.   CAMM is creating a Maritime Trail in which the OF can be included.

Opening Party Update:  Brook Hedge Ticket sales are running behind. A recommendation was made to reach out through our individual e-mail lists to boost ticket sales.  OF will sell tickets at the HLFM on Saturday , May 11th.   The silent auction currently has 50 items compared to last year at  150 items.  Baskets are being added. Brook Hedge will obtain a ‘gathering license’ for Dogfish Head to donate cases of beer to the silent auction.  Bob Gibson - Wine Wall – 10-12 bottles are being donated by the HLFM. Estimate of a 40% profit margin in the wine purchased wholesale.  Continue to pursue additional donated wines.  Festival list update – Later festivals still need volunteers.

.

2013 Activities Schedule:  Distributed to board.

Volunteer Coordinator:  A coordinator is needed to act as a point person in directing potential

volunteers to the appropriate contact person.

ADDITIONAL DISCUSSION:

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Archive Committee:   Draft of accessioning policy submitted for Board review and comment.  The expectation is that a policy can be voted on at the June board meeting.  The committee is in need of secure, climate-controlled space, 10’x10 minimum, in which to gather and begin cataloging artifacts. Several locations were suggested and are being explored.  A task force will be formed to review recommendations of the Artifacts committee, and report on those finding at the September board meeting.

Meeting was adjourned at 10:40.

Respectfully submitted by Jayne Abercrombie, Secretary
