Children and their families are welcome to join us for our monthly Family Program at the Lightship Overfalls. This month’s “Navigating the Starry Sky” program features renowned astronomer and Overfalls guest lecturer, Mr. Jim O’Leary.
The Moon and the Big Dipper are two of the most common sights in our night sky. We will make a paper Moon computer to track the Moon’s phases and discover where to find the Moon at different times of the month. We will also construct a Big Dipper clock to track its position year-round. Finally, we will assemble simple constellation projectors to produce familiar star patterns, including the Big Dipper and Orion.
Please arrive on time as there will only be 1 program that starts at 9:30 a.m. at the ship in Canalfront Park and will include a tour of the Lightship Overfalls. This event is free and open to the public.
