Stephanie Anne Wheelhouse Conversion to Museum

The Foundation was fortunate to acquire the pilot house from the historic Lewes fishing boat Stephanie Anne when her owners were restoring the vessel. The structure was in very poor condition but had the potential of being repurposed as a museum to display the Foundation’s growing collection of maritime artifacts.

The Stephanie Anne wheelhouse was restored by Foundation volunteers and opened to the public as a museum in 2014. It was dedicated on June 4th, the 76th anniversary of the launch of the Lightship Overfalls. The museum contains artifacts and other exhibits that illustrate life aboard a lightship and tell the American sailor story.

Ship Store

In a previous life, the Ship’s Store was once known as Sylvester’s Bait Shack. Restored and converted to the store, it sells many items that will remind you of your memorable visit to the Lightship Overfalls, including toys, shirts, hats, gifts, books, media and other memorabilia.
