Corporate Giving

The Overfalls Foundation hold numerous community events each year.  These events provide great opportunities for local businesses and other nonprofits to enhance their profile while supporting  worthy cause.

Annual opening Ceremony

The Annual Opening Ceremony held each May as part of the Lewes Maritime Day celebration is hosted in Canalfront Park.  The event serves as Lewes’ unofficial summer season opening event and is well attended by people of all ages.  Business leaders and politicians are well represented, and the event attracts hundreds of guests each year.

Canalside Happy Hours

Summer Canalside Happy Hours take place monthly in May, June, July, August, and September. These offer members and guests a casual setting to meet and network as well as take a free tour of the ship while they listen to live music.

Anchor Drops

The Overfalls celebrates the start of a new year with an annual anchor drop. Both the Family Friendly and midnight Anchor Drops are fun events where locals and visitors of all ages gather to chat and ring in the new year.

These are just a few of the events where your Corporate sponsorship will be recognized. Corporate Sponsors are recognized with signage at our events, press releases, and their logo running across the bottom of our website.

The Overfalls Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

    Why Donate?

The Overfalls Foundation preserves and shares Delaware’s maritime history through the Overfalls Lightship Museum, which tells the story of lightship mariners protecting  sailors and shipping throughout the Delaware Bay region, and the Monomoy lifeboat, which was initially designed to save sailors and merchant marines in the treacherous Battle of the Atlantic during World War II.. Support from our members, volunteers, donors, and community helps keep these historic resources accessible for future generations.

Your gift may be used in support of day-to-day operations, maintain our floating and land-based assets, promote community-wide events such as the annual Anchor Drops, and support youth-oriented programs such as Fishin’ Kids, Sail Away Day, and Why Knot Day.  We offer scholarships to Sussex County graduating seniors who study the maritime sciences.

Join us as we engage in performing our mission of preserving our floating and land-based assets and educating our visitors about the history of lightships through the Lightship Overfalls, Monomoy Lifeboat, and Overfalls Lightship Museum.
